THE OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE NOT HAPPENING IN PLAIN SIGHT
There is nothing to see here. There is no attempt at witness tampering by the President of the United States through the United States Department of Justice, which is not currently run by the President’s personal criminal defense lawyers. Who could imagine such a blatant conflict of interest?
The President never associated with Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced pedophile sex trafficker. There is no long-standing evidence of the pair socializing in the 1990’s and 2000’s. The President is not quoted as saying “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.” No, Trump protects the innocent. Didn’t you hear that Trump threw Epstein out of his resort for being creepy?
In 2019 Epstein was arrested for sex trafficking and then found dead in his jail cell while protected by the first Trump Administration. The Attorney General, who represented Trump at his impeachment, and the Director of the FBI, who wrote a children’s book which portrays Trump as a benevolent king, says it was a suicide. There is no way it was not a suicide, because there is no way the President would be concerned with what a cornered Epstein would say about his non-existent relationship with him when it comes to underage girls.
Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted co-conspirator of Epstein, sits in federal prison, having been convicted for trafficking underage girls for Epstein’s sexual enjoyment. It’s not as if Maxwell picked up one of Epstein’s underage victims, Virginia Giuffre, at Mar-A-Lago for Epstein to abuse. She’s not the one person who could sink the President. She’s doing twenty years in the federal penitentiary which is not at all a long time. An heir to a fortune and a debutante before being arrested and imprisoned, there is no way she’s yearning for the day where she can escape back to a life of freedom, riches, and comfort. There is no way she is motivated to get out of prison by any means necessary.
Just because Ms. Maxwell is a direct witness to what Epstein and the President were up to back in the day, she does not currently hold immense power over Trump in a way nobody else in history does. She is upstanding and innocent, the victim of an overreaching prosecution, just like Trump and his jury trial that resulted in 34 felony convictions. She would never lie to protect the President to save herself. No way she makes that sort of deal.
And the President does not have the power to waive a magic wand and free her, the power to make her dream come true, to send her back to her life, back to her people, no more bad hair days, no more jail gruel, back to the dry champaign on planes to Paris and Aspen. She cannot close her eyes and imagine what it would be like to walk past those iron bars forever. There is no way he would pardon her or commute her sentence in exchange for her silence or false testimony. That’s not who he is and it’s not who she is.
Back at the United States Department of Justice, the President’s criminal defense lawyer, Todd Blanche, is definitely not also the Deputy Attorney General of the United States. He does not have the second highest job at the Justice Department, with power over whether Maxwell stays in prison for one more day.
Thankfully, the Deputy Attorney General is meeting in person with Maxwell not to see if she will deal, but instead to get to the bottom of the Epstein matter because as he says, “no one is above the law-and no lead is off-limits.” Thank goodness for his commitment to truth, justice, and the rule of law.
Clearly, the President would never exercise his pardon power for unlawful purposes. Maxwell, whose cooperation is the one thing the President totally doesn’t need, has no interest in making an agreement with the President in exchange for leniency. That would be crazy. It would never happen.
